Am I really a thirty-something?

Every year, on the 17th of February I get a year older. Tomorrow, I turn 31.

It's funny, as I get older my birthday seems like less of an event and more like just another day of the week. Maybe it's just me, but I look forward to other people's birthdays more than my own. I love planning parties, serving up spreads of yummy food and creating ridiculously cute invitations. It would be kind of weird to do those things for myself.

This year included, I have been pregnant  three of my past four birthdays. Later this year I will give birth to our fifth child, which means I will have three kiddos three and under. I know I am far from the first one to have so many small ones but the thought is intimidating! I'm sure God will see us through. :)

Some highlights of this past year...

1. We fostered and eventually adopted our first dog, Rocco.

2. I had a garden for the first time in my life and loved it.
3. I found what I believe to be a lifetime friend. :)

4. I changed the way my family eats. We now buy nearly everything organic and make our own food. (We don't buy processed yuck anymore)
5. I started making my own cleaners and detergents.
6. We've been homeschooling for 3 years. This year I FINALLY discovered the difference between having school at home and homeschooling.

7. While my husband and I aren't together (we were separated in December), we are growing spiritually closer. We are still separated but we have hope that wasn't there before. All the time, God is good. God is good, all the time.
8. I started a blog.
9. I joined the Schoolhouse Review Crew. (!!!)
10. I started and quit college. (don't ask)

This past year has definitely been an eventful one. I am thankful for each trial, each mountain top experience and everything in between. God's grace has been more evident this year than ever before in my life. I hope and pray my family and I continue to move closer to Him as the days go by.

Here's to 31!!
