Christmas talk in August?

It's August, I know. However, for the past few weeks Christmas has been on my heart and mind. Every year at Christmas time, we talk about how commercial the whole thing has become. People think more about presents than Christ. I have gone back and forth with it but have finally decided... I won't be buying gifts this year. I will not be buying for my husband, my children, or my family and friends. This is not due to lack of finances or ill-behaved children. It just seems silly to lavish people (especially those we only see once a year) with gifts when we should be celebrating the birth of Christ! We give the kids what they need throughout the year. We surprise them with special things when they deserve it. They already get birthday presents- they don't need anything else. Surely, I'm not the only one with this thought process, right?
