Learn the Wisdom of Solomon through play with Wisdomantics! {a Flyby review & giveaway}

If I have learned anything about teaching while homeschooling it would be that learning through play is (for my students) the best way to learn. We have all kids of educational games, both physical and online. However, we didn’t have any games that taught Bible knowledge… until now! We were recently given the opportunity to review Wisdomantics (wisdom-antics).

Wisdomantics is an interactive DVD board game. What does that mean? The main part of the game, the questions and answers are on the DVD and navigated through with your remote control or mouse if you play the game on your laptop. The rules are fairly lengthy and somewhat complex (probably why there is a 12 years and up age recommendation) so check out this video, made by the creators, for a good explanation of how the games is played.

I played the game with my husband and two older kids (12 and 15). We had a hard time getting started but once we got the sequence of things down, we had a good time. I will say that some Bible knowledge, specifically of Proverbs, is helpful and almost required. With over 400 different questions, having repeat questions isn't a problem. They use the scripture from the New King James Version of the Bible which, I think, is perfect. Some families use NIV, some KJV but the NKJV is a nice middle-of-the-road choice. Nice move Wisdomantics!

Once you get the hang of things, the game moves at a decent pace and having the built-in timer keeps each player's turn from being too long. All in all, each game took us about an hour to play. Because of all the small tiles and cards we had to wait until the littles were in bed, which meant we were playing later in the night than I would like but not really a big deal.

I look forward to incorporating the game into our homeschool. So far we've only played at night with Dad but it could totally count as school. (Bible: check!) I'm thinking once a week would be good to use it during school- often enough to make it part of our routine but not so often that they get tired of playing. Wisdomantics would also be an easy thing to do on "sick days". Yay back-up plan!

I do wish there were options to have more players. I suppose we could just make some more boards when we have company over but being a large family and one that has frequent company, only having four boards is somewhat frustrating. Perhaps an expansion pack?

Wisdomantics is available for $29.95 from Kingdom Games Enterprises, LLC.
