THE SONG: Awaken Love Couple’s Devotional {a Flyby Review} PLUS Giveaway

My life is busy. Is yours? My husbands life is hectic, is yours? The quiet moments we get to spend together are rare at best. He works a job that requires him to be gone 60+ hours a week and of course he has to sleep at some point. I have five kids to teach, wrangle, pour into and {insert any one of the 1,000 things us stay at home moms do during the day}. By the time bedtime rolls around, and the toddlers are bathed, read do, prayed with and actually STAY in bed… I’m exhausted.
I am all about spending time in the Word with my husband but to be honest… it’s hard. It’s hard to find time. It’s hard to find something that we both like. It’s hard to get anything from these super short “One-Minute” devotionals.
We’ve tried reading the different “wife” and “husband” books, but like most men he’s not a reader. We’ve tried many different devotional styles and eventually they’ve all fallen to the wayside- incomplete and abandoned.
I’ll be honest, when I was given the opportunity to review this devotional… I was hesitant. I was pretty sure we’d tried every type of couple’s devotional out there.
I AM SO HAPPY I DECIDED TO TAKE A CHANCE!!!
Awaken Love is a wonderful couple's devotional! It's designed to be a 6-week study but will probably take us twice as long to get through it. It goes by days (week 1- day 1, week 1- day 2, etc...) so it's easy to keep track of where you are in the study.
So far we are really enjoying the book! The devotions themselves are well thought out and actually have substance to them. No one-minute devotions here!! Each one is 2-3 pages long and has applicable lessons, activities to do with your spouse, a "notes" section for a written response and extra verses to explore together.
I really like the way it's written. It's personal and entertaining but still effective enough to get you to take a good look at your marriage and identify any areas you could brush up on.
One of the first activities was taking your spouse's name and coming up with a word for each letter. This is what Ray came up with for my name:
Joy
Elegant
Nurturing
Intelligent
Forgiving
Fair
Entertaining
Respectable
Isn't he sweet?
I recommend this fun devotional to any married couple, whether you've been married 10 days or 10 years!!
