Isn’t that cover beautiful? When I opened the package containing this book, I caught my breath. The simple beauty and grace displayed on the front cover is carried throughout the book. For Such a Time as This: Stories of Women from the Bible, Retold for Girls was written by Angie Smith and illustrated by Breezy Brookshire.

Together they have definitely created something that not just young girls will love but their mothers too. I enjoyed sharing this book with Julia, my 12 year old. As homeschoolers, she has daily Bible work that she does. We also have family devotions. This book is something that she and I could sit down and read and discuss together. Just us girls.

I have reviewed many books for children in the past year, and this has been my favorite to share with my daughter. The characteristics displayed by the women in these Bible stories are the same ones I hope to cultivate in her and that God would continue to cultivate in me.

As they discussed in the video, the "He", "Me", "She" parts of each of the stories take this book from story time to learning and bonding time. Learning about women of the Bible and what they did, whether small or big, and how it was noteworthy to God shows us (girls) that we are much in His eyes. He takes care of us and cares about the little things.

I was so tickled to see her sharing these stories and pictures with her little sister.

This 256 page gem offers 40 stories about different women from the Bible. It is recommended for girls ages 6-10 but I believe this is good for girls 4-13. Even if the little lady can’t read yet, this would make a great read aloud.
