Homemade Granola {from The Homemakers Mentor}

Granola is one of those grand foods that is super versatile. It can be eaten alone by the handful, on yogurt, over ice cream or even as a topping for a cobbler. However, granola can be quite expensive- especially for the healthy stuff. So, where does that leave us folks who don't want to pay $11 for 12oz of granola? Well, it either leaves us without granola or a new found urge to make our own. Being the ambitious gal I am, I opted for the second choice. At first I was intimidated by all the recipes out there for homemade granola. There are so many different ways to make it! For my first attempt I wanted a basic recipe that didn't involve too many ingredients. I found several from the Homemaker's Mentor cd and thankfully, there was a very basic one. Add a few ingredients together, stir it and bake it. Great!

Pre-baked

Here it is baked. By the way, this granola made my house smell wonderful while cooking!

My kids love it, especially my two year old. He won't eat his yogurt without the granola now, and my one year old just eats it by the handful.

The recipe made enough to fill two 3 cup/ 24 oz mason jars. It has a nice cinnamon flavor- very basic. We will definitely be making this again and NOT buying granola anymore.

Want the recipe? It is on The Homemaker's Mentor cd, which will be available October 7th. Look for more details as that day approaches! Trust me, you won't want to miss out on this great compilation of 110 pdf books- all dedicated to helping us moms be better housekeepers, cooks, mommas and more! Learn more about it here.

  1. I'm looking forward to trying the granola recipes! I was planning to do this over the weekend when you posted it, but we got a little busy. My daughter is on a mission to get it done though, so likely tomorrow.
