FOUR GOSPELS. FOUR FILMS. ONE JESUS STORY. FOR EVERYONE.

The Lumo Project is a ground breaking, multi-language biblical film resource transforming the way we discover, study and engage with the life of Jesus through the four New Testament Gospels: redefining the standard of visual Biblical media. The Lumo Project presents four films – one for each Gospel account – that will revolutionize the way we all experience the story of Jesus and the world of First Century Palestine in which he lived.

THE GOSPEL OF JOHN

The Gospel of John takes the story of Jesus from John’s gospel with its own unique characteristics. For John, Jesus is the Word of God made human. John is clear that when we encounter Jesus, we encounter God.  The gospel writer points to the miracles and teachings as evidence of Jesus’ special relationship as the divine Son of God.

This full-length feature film about the life of Jesus takes the actual Gospel text as its script, word for word, unedited. Five years in the making, this epic production has been critically acclaimed by leading religious scholars as a unique and highly authentic telling of the Jesus story. Narrated by leading British actor David Harewood, it is based on the latest theological, historical and archaeological research. With specially constructed sets and the extraordinarily authentic villages and countryside of rural Morocco, it immerses the viewer in the world of first century Palestine.

My thoughts

I was given access to an online screening of The Gospel of John in exchange for my honest review. The film is 2 hours, 40 minutes long- much longer than I thought would be. I watched it alone because I wasn't sure exactly how child-friendly the film would be. I would approve the film for children ages 10 and up.

The Gospel of John is wonderfully done. I love that the film is the gospel of John. The entire book of John is narrated word-for-word as it's found in the Bible. You can pick from three different versions of the film: NIV, King James and Spanish. I watched the NIV.

The landscaping and actors are exactly what I envision in my mind when I read my Bible. I was truly impressed. Watching it makes you really feel like you're experiencing His life first-hand; I got goose bumps more than once.

If you close your eyes while the film is playing it sounds like a dramatized audio Bible. You can hear the market, the goats, people walking and talking together. And when you open your eyes it's like what you were imagining has come to life and is now on the screen in front of you. It's amazing. I've already added The Gospel of John to my list on Netflix and look forward to watching it with my children. I look forward to seeing the other three gospels when they come out.
