This past week flew by. It seems like the further along I get in this pregnancy, the faster things are happening. I'm in my 7th month now and can't believe it!!
So... what have we been up to?
Last
Friday was National Donut Day. Did you know that? We celebrated the occasion by
heading south to a friend’s house where we strung donuts from her clothes line.
J The kids (all 11 of them) had
to eat their donuts from the strings without using their hands. It was
hilarious and something we will definitely be doing again!
I
scored twenty-something books at Goodwill yesterday for .69 each. I’m talking really
good homeschooling books! I love awesome finds like that!
I
discovered a new recipe while at the market. I tried a sample, loved it and
bought the necessary ingredients. I’m hoping the kids are on board with it. I’m
making it tonight for dinner so I’ll let you know how that turns out.
OH! I’ve
got a new cleaning routine going on. It goes something like this…
Monday:
laundry and pantry- I have one of those weird houses where the pantry and
laundry room are combined into one space. Personally, I find it gross to have
dirty clothes stored in the same place as food so I try to keep the laundry in
the bedrooms if I’m not washing clothes at the moment. For a couple of weeks
now I have done all the laundry in the house on Mondays and been pretty
successful at keeping things in check! As far as cleaning the pantry, well that’s
just reorganizing the shelves. All the kids can reach the shelves now which
means my storage techniques are frequently undone. J
Tuesday:
bathrooms and carpet cleaning- Oscar takes the kids bath, Julia takes on the downstairs
bathroom and I tackle my own. Simple enough.
Wednesday:
we have to be at church at 5:30 on Wednesdays, which means we have to leave the
house by 5:00. We really don’t do anything beyond regular upkeep on Wednesdays.
Thursdays:
bedrooms and loft (aka the toy room)
Friday:
kitchen- mopping, wiping down cabinets and doors, cabinet straitening
Saturday: weather permitting, we do out outdoor upkeep on the weekends. We also clean the van out every Saturday.
We
vacuum the carpets, make our beds, do a quick wipe down of mirrors and toilets and
sweep the kitchen daily. So far so good. The minor daily upkeep hasn’t proven
to be more than we can handle.
How do
you handle household chores? Do you try to take it all on by yourself or
delegate?
Donuts on a clothesline sounds fun! The chore system sounds easy enough too :)
