Where is God in the midst of tragedy and suffering?
The resounding theme of this movie is one of the most faith wrecking questions known to Christians: "Why does God let bad things happened to good people?"
This film came to me at a perfect time. If you have been reading my blog for any amount of time, then you know that I have recently gone through my own tragedy.
After my husband left, I spent a long time wondering why. Why us? Why now? How could God let this happen? Watching this film really cemented what I have already come to realize... God uses EVERYTHING for good. He takes our broken hearts, mends them and gives us the ability to tell others what He has done for us. Something horrible might have happened to you personally but God doesn't leave you alone. He will use you and your circumstances to bring others to Him. Your testimony may be just what someone else needs to hear.
Inspired by the death of Kirk Cameron's close friend who died of cancer at the age of 15, Kirk takes viewers on a hope-filled journey to better understand why we go through trials. Unstoppable is a powerful film that I highly recommend for both those struggling with their faith and those who stand firm. Kirk Cameron does an excellent job of answering that age old question.. If God is powerful enough to stop evil and pain and suffering, why doesn't He? This is not a feel good film or suited for young children as the dramatizations of the early Bible stories are quite brutal. That being said, I think every family should watch this film. Even if you aren't going through a storm now, eventually you will and the hope and understanding this film offers is invaluable during those times.

Unstoppable is a movie I would love to watch with my husband. ...possibly even in a small group. Perspective is everything and sometimes our perspective does not take into consideration God's bigger picture!
ReplyDeleteFantastic sentiments. You are right, as is Kirk - God uses all things for HIS glory, and His promise to us as believers is that even when the bad things happen, our God is big enough and loves us enough to make sure that something for our benefit comes from it. He's a good God. :) Great thoughts, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI'd watch with my husband first, and then decide about my teens. :)
