Preschool, Home Economics, Everyday Epistles- Oh My!! {A SchoolhouseTeachers.com Review}

We have all (or at least most of us) heard of The Old Schoolhouse Magazine. If you haven't had the chance to check out this free, digital magazine, head on over to the TOS website and don't miss out on this great resource any longer!

 SchoolhouseTeachers.com is a division of The Old Schoolhouse Magazine. The website offers online and printable curriculum for all ages (Preschool through High School). The lessons can be used to fill in the gaps in your current curriculum or used as a complete curriculum. The Yearly Membership Option for full online access is $139. That's not $139 per child, it's per family. That price includes all available teacher interaction and lessons, hundreds of e-books, Schoolhouse Planners and other downloadable teaching and learning products. Which means you could essentially homeschool every level of kiddo for a complete school year for less than $150! How's that for affordable family learning?

When I was given the opportunity to review this resource, I was blown away at its comprehensive magnitude. SchoolhouseTeachers.com has definitely made my must-have homeschool resources list.
Look at this amazing list of available lessons and classes.

Here is a short video of the new classes and lessons that debuted this Fall.

Home Economics, Homegrown Preschool and Everyday Epistles are a few of the things that popped out at me immediately. I plan to fully implement these lessons into our homeschool after the new year.

The Home Economics lessons are perfect for my 11 year old daughter. It teaches so much more than just how to set a dinner table or how to properly fold a pair of pants. Our first lesson teaches on self-management. Week one's lesson focused on good habits and working together. Each lesson has a focal verse, this one was Colossians 3:23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men. For each activity and practice opportunity within the lesson, it offers more biblical scriptures to further build that great foundation. I am a pencil and paper kind of gal, so the fact that most things are printable is fantastic! These lessons are no exception.

The Homegrown Preschooler is the book on which these lessons are based. As soon as I read about these hands-on lessons, I ran on over to Amazon and purchased it. I cannot wait to get started with my two little ones (almost 2 and 3). The authors, Kathy Lee and Lesli Richards, have taken the contents of the book even further by developing a monthly preschool curriculum for SchoolhouseTeachers.com. Each month there is a pretty curriculum overview that you can print and hang on the fridge. The overview lists all the activities and lessons for the month in a great check off layout. (Yay check boxes!!) This month, the topics include Christmas, showing kindness, making cinnamon ornaments and gifts for others. Each activity has step by step instructions and most have pictures to go with them!

Everyday Epistles is currently featuring Philippians in 28 Weeks. Written by Stacy Farrell, this scripture memory tool will help you and your children commit the book of Philippians to memory. SchoolhouseTeachers.com offers printable memory cards, reading logs, reflection questions and journaling pages for every step of the way. You read, recite, meditate on and in the end memorize the entire book of Philippians.This is something that can be done as a whole family. What better way to spend time together than helping each other memorize the Word of God?

Right now is a great time to sign up for the Yearly Membership Option. During the month of December, your $139 not only gets you unlimited online access to the always growing content but also a FREE copy of the annual 2014 print edition of The Old Schoolhouse Magazine (a $10.00 value) AND are you ready for this???
