21 Days to a More Disciplined Life- Day 1 {making the choice}

This post may include affiliate links that help support my family. Read my full disclosure here.

I am in dire need of some self-discipline so I have decided to take the challenge presented by Crystal Paine in her book 21 Days To A More Disciplined Life. Read more about why I took this challenge here.

Discipline is definitely a choice. We must choose to do the right thing, in this case- the productive thing. It is so easy to sit at the computer and play on Facebook or Pinterest for hours. This is my biggest problem. I know that when the babies go down for a nap, I have about a two hour window of possible uninterrupted productivity. Lately, I have been letting that time slip through my fingers by choosing to take a nap or read a book instead of doing what I NEED to do. There is a saying in our home, "Do what you have to do before you do what you want to do." I have been quite the hypocrite.

Day 1 required me to tackle one tiny project, think of a mega project (one that could be divided into 21 parts) and complete the first step of my 21 day mega-project.

For my tiny project, I chose to fix my recipe binder. Normally, my binder would be in great condition, however, I recently created a new recipe binder for a friend. When I did that, I basically tore my own apart. I wanted to make copies of my favorites, which meant removing sleeves from the binder and then the recipes from the protective sleeves. By the time I was finished, I had papers and sleeves everywhere. This was months ago. I pretty much quit using my binder from that point until now. When I REALLY needed to find something, I would look for that specific recipe and leave the mess for later. I'll fix it later, I thought. Well, I am super excited to say that "later" has finally come!!
This is my mess.
The different stacks were in different places but I figured it would be much easier to take just one photo of a centralized mess. :)

Organized the recipes into categories (bread, desserts, main dishes, etc.)

As I was going through the papers, it became clear which recipes I had used without the protective sleeves.

Once I got all the recipes put into sleeves, I grabbed a new (bigger) binder, put some pretty stickers on it (because pretty stickers make me smile) and called it a day.

In case you are wondering about my mega-project, I will be sharing that tomorrow. ;) Day 1 Complete.
